Ms. Vachon became a part of Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in the 2014-15 school year as a Science instructor. She comes from a clinical background of 14 years in laboratories, mainly at the Cleveland Clinic, but also from private industry. After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Biology and working in different labs for a handful of years she realized something was missing in her career. She loved the science but needed to share it! She earned her teaching licensure from Baldwin Wallace and Cleveland State University and her first teaching job was here at CVCC! In the summer of 2018 Miss Vachon earned her Masters of Arts in Education with a specialty in School Leadership from Baldwin Wallace and although she looks forward to entering administration some day she still loves teaching in the classroom.
Ms. Vachon teaches Anatomy & Physiology for the Health Careers programs (junior year). She takes a direct instructional approach utilizing lecture enhanced with technology, but also believes in student-led projects, independent and group activities and laboratory experiments. Her classes are rigorous, but her real-world experience and excitement for the subject make class enjoyable and relevant for the students. Miss Vachon also assists in the STAR (Student-Teacher Assistance Room) in which students can receive extra help with testing, study skills and organization, or tutoring in all subjects.
