The Junior class schedule will focus on the following main topics:
*Homeland Security and general incident management (NIMS 100 and 700 certifications will be obtained), and AHA BLS (CPR) certification. - 1st grading period
*Introduction to Firefighting - "Fundamentals of Fire Fighting Skills and Hazardous Materials Response." - 2nd and 3rd grading period
*Introduction to Medical, Physical Fitness assessment, and workouts. - 4th grading period
*There may be a field trip scheduled in the 4th grading period to the Tri-C Fire Academy for a tour and to observe the field activities during a "live burn."
*Aside from the academy classroom topics, students are required to complete detailed course work with Anatomy and Physiology. Body structures and functions are an essential element in an EMT's training. This knowledge base is important to have before entering the EMT course in the Senior year.
