Why Should You Hire a CVCC Student?

Employers needing additional help to get work done or looking to increase productivity should consider hiring a high school student.  Employing students as interns or apprentices to work a minimum of 13.50 hours a week during the afternoons, evenings, or weekends can be extremely beneficial to companies in any industry:

  • Student interns can provide support to existing staff members and free them up to perform more specialized or complex tasks.
  • Internships offer employers a trial period to assess the skills of an intern without the full commitment of an employee.  This experience is a great way to bring in possible future employees and reduces risks of hiring unknown candidates.
  • Interns are inexpensive.  Their salaries are significantly lower than staff employees, and employers have the opportunity to shape and mold the skills most sought after for the company.
  • Workplace experiences  help students prepare for future employment.  Students have the opportunity to take their skills and knowledge into the work setting and get a realistic view of the day-to-day activities of specific jobs.  The experiences help students develop marketable skills, strengthen their Early Placement Guidelines resumes, and make connections.
  • Students must complete an Early Placement, Paid Internship & Apprenticeship Training Plan.
  • Program instructors must visit each work site and complete a Job Site Visitation & Evaluation Form.
  • Students must complete a Weekly Time Report.

Posting a Job on Our Job Board

CVCC assists employers by posting potential employment opportunities.  We provide an electronic job board that allows employers to post jobs and direct them to the applicants they want to meet.  The posting process does not imply that CVCC in any way represents or recommends the employers, nor does it guarantee the accuracy of job posting information.

Employers can choose to have the job posting sent to current CVCC high school and adult students, alumni, or community job seekers.

CVCC will post your job opening for 30 days.  You should have applicants contact you directly and preferred method of contact should be noted in posting.

Job postings that will not be accepted by CVCC's Job Placement Office include the following:
  • Any position that involves employment in a private residence
  • Positions compensated by commission only
  • Positions that require any type of fee, retainer, or payment by the employee to the employer to obtain the position
  • A position in which an employee is considered an "Independent Contractor"
  • Any position in which the employee is not covered under all appropriate federal, state, and local labor laws.
If you have questions about whether a position can be posted at CVCC, please contact Martha Sluka, 440-746-8260.
