Airbrush Artistry at CVCC
So when Efrain Soto, CVCC auto body and refinishing instructor, brought in airbrush paint expert Tom Banks from the Ohio Technical College for a seminar, it took the cool factor up many a notch.

Efrain reports that Tom demonstrated a variety of techniques that had his students in awe. At the end of the class, the students did their own hand-on painting.

"This was a totally unique experience I couldn't have gotten anywhere else," says student Alex Briscoe, who received his own set of airbrush paints when he was 12 and has been practicing ever since. "One of the reasons I'm interested in auto body repair is because I enjoy the mechanical and artistic part of fixing and revamping cars."

Tom showed the students how to stencil basic designs onto cars, and make tracings, slowly and methodically. "For anyone who loves cars as much as I do, to create a totally customized look is pretty amazing," says Alex. "There are many intricacies to the technique. It's so much harder than just pushing a button. This seminar really opened my eyes to the possibilities and made me look forward to a career in airbrush painting."

Efrain says some of his students have already taken the airbrush techniques to the next level and created their own T-shirt designs.

Another unbelievably cool feature of CVCC's program is the SIM Spray Virtual Reality lab. Students can don a helmet and wield a paint brush/hand gun that will project their technique onto a virtual car displayed on a 42" television screen.
