The hurricane relief drive began Wednesday, September 13 and concluded two weeks later. For each item donated, students received a ticket and were entered into a drawing for a class pizza party compliments of Romito's Pizza and City of Independence Technical Service employee Mr. Rich Crane. Congratulations to pizza party winners Health Careers A from the morning session and Sales and Service Fundamentals from the afternoon session. Wreaths Across AmericaService-Learning Project Supporting Wreaths Across America
CVCC's Power Equipment Technology Program students are joining the cause to ensure that all veterans at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery are honored. From now until November 15, CVCC's Power Equipment students, led by instructor Jerry Koenig and with the collaboration of the Construction Trades Program, are using this opportunity as a service-learning project, setting a lofty goal of gathering 600 wreath sponsorships as a way to honor our fallen.

This year, the National Wreaths Across America Day ceremony, held simultaneously across the country at more than 1,200 locations, will be on Saturday, December 16, 2017. All CVCC Power Equipment students will be on location at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery to help lay the wreaths (hopefully 25,000 in number). The goal: to place a live, balsam fir wreath at the headstone of every veteran buried there, spread patriotism, and commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Each wreath sponsorship costs $15, with $5 going to the Power Equipment Program. To sponsor a wreath, visit: https://wreaths.fastport.com and use Cuyahoga Valley Career Center's Power Equipment Program Group ID Code: OH0125P.  For more information, contact Jerry Koenig at gkoenig@cvccworks.edu or 440-746-8290.
