College & Career Planning
CVCC provides a variety of resources to assist parents and students withcollege and career planning:

Each year, about 15 million students apply for grants, work-study, and loans for college using the FAFSA. By completing it, students apply to the U.S. Department of Education, the largest source of student aid in America. In many cases, the FAFSA is the only application needed for students to obtain aid from their state or college, too. Recent changes make it quicker and easier than ever to fill out the FAFSA.
Volunteer Programs for Teens

20 Ways for Teenagers to Help Other People by Volunteering
Have you ever thought about volunteering to a local charity or community organization?  There are many different reasons to start volunteering:
  • to help others
  • to learn about an activity or organization that interests you
  • to beat boredom - if you feel totally bored, volunteer in an activity you enjoy - it's a great way to change things
  • to overcome a loss you have experienced - one of the best ways to help yourself in a time of loss is to help others
  • to gain perspective on life (there is no better way to understand your blessings than to help people in need)
Your reasons to volunteer are as individual as you are, but no matter why, you'll get a lot out of it.  You can:
  • learn about yourself
  • learn about others
  • meet a lot of interesting people
  • help others as you help yourself

One of the hardest parts of volunteering can be finding a volunteering opportunity that fits your personality. Visit www.bygpub.com/books/tg2rw/volunteer.htm and your local phone book for ideas.
