I am excited to be part of CVCC since 2015 and absolutely love it!  Before joining the CVCC family I worked at Garfield Heights High School in the Food Tech and Chef's classes for three years. Prior to this I worked out in Ashtabula at Jefferson Area Local Schools.  I have my bachelor's degree from Ashland University, master's degree from Nova Southeastern and a Special degree from Cleveland State. I started my family in 2015 with my first son, CJ, and he is my whole world, I love being a mother as much as I love working with my students and seeing them grow.
 
I believe that all students have the opportunity to learn and it is my job to teach them the necessary skills that are needed in the workplace. Students will develop career awareness and employability skills needed for gaining and maintaining employment in diverse business setting.
Program Description
Students will be introduced to culinary arts, lodging, travel and tourism.  They will acquire practical work experience leading to entry-level positions in hotels, hospitals, bed & breakfasts, restaurants and other hospitality and service businesses.
 
Through direct instruction and community-based work experiences, students will learn customer service principles, safety and sanitation techniques to prevent and control injuries, illnesses and diseases in the workplace.  Students will also learn the fundamentals of food preparation, laundry and linen care, guest relations and room maintenance.
 
There are academic area instruction that are integrated into the class with a strong emphasis on employability skills and professionalism. 
Certification
Students have the opportunity to acquire OSHA Teen Worker Safety in Restaurants certification.
 
Uniform
Students are expected to dress in a professional manner every day while at CVCC
  • CVCC polo shirt
  • Black pants with a black belt if there are belt loops
  • Black socks
  • Shoes MUST be non-slip resistant black shoes
While working in the kitchen lab
  •  White chef coat and black skull hat - purchased through CVCC with student fees
